U.S.S. SEAWOLF Submarine Raider of the Pacific. - By Gerold Frank and James D.

Horan with J. M. Eckberg. Foreword by Admiral Jonas H. Ingram, USN. This is the true story of the

American submarine USS Seawolf (SS-197)––her officers and crew. Dealing with the era in which

Commander Freddie B. Warder was her skipper, Seawolf compiled an excellent record sinking six

Japanese ships in 1942. Co-author Joseph Melvin Eckberg was the Chief Radioman and "soundman"

aboard Seawolf during the time Warder was captain. The book is based upon Eckberg's experiences.

Seawolf was tragically lost with all hands in October 1944, long after Commander Warder and Eckberg

had departed the sub. Published in 1945, this book ends as Warder is transferred––and edited by U.S.

Navy censors before it was released (during the war years). This is the only known book published on this

famous submarine. Some of the 20 black and white World War II submarine photos in this book, are not

of Seawolf. An ultra-rare find for the hard-core collector. Few are ever found with a dust jacket. 1945 first

edition Hardback with original dust jacket. Jacket now wrapped in new protective plastic. 197 pages, with

20 B/W photos. No maps or index. An inscription dated "8/19/55" appears on the first (unprinted or blank)

page as you open the book.
